A Las Vegas woman has claimed the city's club scene has a racism problem. Her concerns grew after she alleged that her employer let her go due to racial bias despite generating significant revenue.

In a viral TikTok video with over 37,400 views, TikToker Kimmiexoxo (@kimmiexoxo_) talked about a work experience at a Las Vegas club that left her perplexed and unemployed.

Termination from the Sapphire Gentleman's Club

According to her, she once had a customer who spent $20,000 at Sapphire Gentleman's Club in Vegas. But that didn't stop her employer from terminating her work with the company.

“I was fired not even a week later,” the woman said.

Allegedly, club management cited her being “too aggressive” as the reason for her termination.

“What does that even mean?” she asked in the video.

She thought her firing had something to do with her race. “I'm honestly so sick of the treatment that goes on with Black women in Las Vegas,” she concluded.

Do Las Vegas adult clubs mistreat Black dancers?

There is no conclusive data that Vegas clubs mistreat Black women. However, allegations of racial discrimination within the adult entertainment industry have surfaced repeatedly.

In 2021, former dancer Chanel Nicholson sued two Houston adult clubs, Splendor and Cover Girls, and alleged that managers sent Black dancers home because there were already “too many Black girls” working. This limited Nicholson and other dancers' opportunities to make money.

Similar complaints have emerged elsewhere in the industry. On Reddit, those familiar with the industry in Vegas discussed how Black dancers are treated in the city.

“Don't believe any of these clowns saying clubs don't discriminate. They are lying. I've run security teams at several [adult] clubs in Vegas. The majority limit the number of black girls because most club owners have the mentality that black [dancers] invite violence. You'll never see more than a handful of black [dancers] at the major [adult] clubs in Vegas,” Reddit user BigmacSmith wrote.

Lawsuits, government actions and dancers' accounts lend credibility to concerns about racial discrimination in adult clubs. However, there is insufficient data to conclude that mistreatment of Black women is widespread throughout all Las Vegas adult clubs.

How often do dancers win lawsuits for mistreatment?

In the video's comment section, some suggested the woman pursue the issue in court.

“Get a lawyer,” one person recommended.

“Sue for wrongful termination,” another commenter wrote.

While it's unclear if this woman would have a valid legal claim, dancers have been able to sue adult clubs for mistreatment in the past.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in conjunction with five Black dancers, sued a Mississippi adult club over allegations of segregation and discrimination.

The verdict included $1.5 million in punitive damages, $1.68 million in compensatory damages and $130,550 in backpay.

Regardless of a person's place of employment, there are still laws to protect workers. Stories like Kimmiexoxo's continue to fuel conversations about whether Black women face unique challenges in the industry.
