South Park creators react to Trump’s anger

Present at San Diego Comic-Con, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker didn’t fail to respond to Trump’s anger, outraged by his caricature in the first episode of season 27 broadcast this week.

Via official statements from the White House and his spokesman, Donald Trump was furious about the explosive South Park episode and the way he was portrayed.

South Park, whose broadcast rights have just been acquired for $1.5 billion by Paramount+, a platform recently merged with CBS and embroiled in a $16 million lawsuit filed by Donald Trump in connection with a Kamala Harris interview aired on 60 Minutes, has found itself in the crosshairs of the Trump White House.

He called the episode a “desperate attempt for attention” and declared that South Park: “is hanging on by a thread”.

Asked at Comic-Con about the president’s reaction to the episode in which he is seen in bed with Satan, Matt Stone and Trey Parker simply replied with humor: “We’re terribly sorry”.

The episode also mocks the CBS/Paramount/Trump deal, while referencing Stephen Colbert’s firing with the line, “You guys saw what happened to CBS? Do you really want to end up like Colbert?”.

According to Forbes, Paramount’s acquisition of South Park, valued at $1.5 billion according to several sources, includes the production of 50 new episodes over a five-year period, while the entire South Park series is available for streaming on Paramount+.
