Trump and J.D. Vance reacted like true novices, lashing out at Zelensky in front of the press and the entire world, live from the White House.

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky visited the White House to negotiate and sign an economic agreement with Donald Trump regarding the exploitation of Ukraine’s natural resources, aimed at financing its reconstruction and ensuring a certain security for his country.

This meeting is part of Trump’s desire to impose his own peace process between Ukraine and Russia, as he has recently strengthened his ties with Moscow. 

This rapprochement raises questions about the real alliances and motivations of the new administration at the White House.

As Zelensky, Trump, and J.D. Vance sat before journalists in the Oval Office, the Ukrainian president argued that Russia was seeking to erase his people and their language, while recalling the agreements violated by Moscow. 

He emphasized that Russia had signed several treaties guaranteeing the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including the 1997 Friendship Treaty and the Minsk Agreements I (2014) and II (2015), which were supposed to establish a ceasefire in the Donbass. 

Zelensky emphasized that his country was not the aggressor, highlighting that Russia had betrayed its commitments by annexing Crimea in 2014 and supporting pro-Russian separatists, thus threatening the sovereignty of Ukraine.

Zelensky insisted that his country and his people must be involved in the negotiations, not just Russia and the United States. He reminded that this conflict does not directly oppose these two powers, but primarily concerns Ukraine and its future. This statement triggered an explosive reaction from J.D. Vance, who demanded that Zelensky thank the United States. However, the Ukrainian president has reminded several times that he has already expressed his gratitude on many occasions, including earlier in the day upon his arrival at the White House.

Trump and J.D. Vance took turns loudly ranting, turning the exchange into an embarrassing spectacle for the United States. Trump, adding to the humiliation, said to Zelensky: «But you’re not acting at all thankful, and that’s not a nice thing.».

Trump then declares that it is beneficial for Americans to see this conversation. However, he does not seem to realize that the whole world is watching in astonishment as he comes closer to the enemy, while an ally is publicly humiliated before everyone.

Zelensky left the White House shortly after this heated exchange in the Oval Office. Meanwhile, Trump posted a message on TruthSocial stating: «President Zelensky is not ready for peace.»

Zelensky also reacted on X, expressing his gratitude towards the United States, adding: «Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.»
