Trump thinks that Americans who complain about the price of eggs should “shut up”

Donald Trump sparked controversy by sharing a message urging Americans to «shut up about egg prices».

On Truth Social, Trump indeed reshared an article titled «Shut Up About Egg Prices Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions» urging the public… to stop complaining about eggs. 

The article was written by Charlie Kirk, a controversial American political influencer.

The conservative activist, founder of Turning Point USA, is known for his ultraconservative positions and conspiracy theories.

In the same article shared by Trump, Kirk attributes the rise in egg prices to the previous administration, accusing the Democrats of rejoicing in this situation.

He asserts that the rise in the price of eggs “is in no way the fault of President Trump” and reiterates the argument, common on the right, that it is the fault of the Biden administration, which allegedly decimated the hens population during the avian flu epidemic. 

In reality, the policy of culling invoked by Kirk is conducted by the Department of Agriculture and was continued under Trump himself, which he fails to mention. 

This statement comes as the American economy is going through a difficult period for Americans, marked by a significant drop in the stock markets.

Recent trade policies of Donald Trump, particularly the imposition of new tariffs on imports from allied countries of the United States, have contributed to a significant decline in the stock markets. 

During his election campaign, Trump promised to reduce the cost of living for Americans, particularly by lowering the prices of essential goods.

However, since his return to the White House, these promises have struggled to materialize, and consumers are feeling the pressure of inflation.
